Rimfire Benchrest Shooting Contact – Brian Headlee, 715-377-8484, tenspot17@hotmail.com Nearly all of us have a 22 rifle. They are hard to beat for sheer fun while shooting. Willow River Rod & Gun offers 3 different opportunities for organized rimfire benchrest shooting. Between the 3 disciplines there is certainly something for everybody from the 1-2 times a year plinker to the highly competitive shooter. We welcome all to join us and partake in the fun. Youth are welcome to participate and a hunters ed certificate is encouraged. May 15th ARA results

IR 50/50 is contested at 50 yards and has a comprehensive set of equipment rules. It is a nationally sanctioned discipline where shooters compete at the match level, plus the club and national level through each local match as club points and national points are awarded. IR 50/50 utilizes 3 weight classes of firearms where a firearm may shoot a heavier class but not a lighter class. While some may look at the equipment and think a good score is easy, all who participate know the difficulty of hitting a 1mm dot in a switchy breeze. If interested please contact me, myself and the other regulars will be more than willing to show you the ropes.

Cost - $10.00 per 3 card shoot, $25 per 6 card tournament, targets provided
Course of Fire: 25 shots on 25 bullseye’s in 20 minutes per card, unlimited sighters.
ARA is contested at 50 yards also. The ARA rules are very open, essentially shoot what you brung. This includes any old Marlin tube fed bolt action to radical looking rail guns. Scoring is unconventional in that the worst edge of the bullet is used, not the best edge as in nearly every other discipline. Worst edge scoring means the bullet hole must be entirely within the lines for that score, or you get the lower score. ARA nights at the club are a lot fun with some great people, dig that ol 22 out of the safe and come join us.

Since 2002 I have been involved in the E-Matches at Rimfirecentral.com where Joe Haller of Michigan originally set up the discipline as way to get gunowners shooting. I hold Joe responsible for my rimfire affliction and involvement in ARA and IR50/50. His E-Match concept got me to drag out a rifle and see what I could do with it and it was all downhill from there so to speak!! I help moderate the E-Match forum and have run the 50 yard matches for several years now. The website also contests matches at 25 yds. These matches are pure fun, all you need is a firearm, ammo, and some USBR targets with a scoring plug. You simply shoot your target for the appropriate class listed per your rifle and post the score to the months match topic. I will tally the results at the end and post them. Scores must be shot on the Official USBR target face. I have plenty I can sell you cheaply if you want to get your feet wet.
